An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading manufacturing organisation based in the Toome area. Renowned for designing and manufacturing high-quality transport solutions for customers across the UK and Ireland, the business continues to invest in its engineering function and the development of future engineering talent. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Graduate Engineering Support Engineer to join their engineering team. This role offers an excellent entry point into engineering, providing structured training, mentorship, and career progression into a Design Engineering position.

Your New Role

As a Graduate Engineering Support Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the engineering department with technical and administrative activities while gaining hands-on experience within a busy engineering environment. Working closely with experienced engineers, you will assist with engineering documentation, product data management, BOM creation, and technical administration tasks. Over time, you will receive training in 3D CAD design and engineering processes, allowing you to progress into a full Design Engineering role.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Engineering Department with daily engineering administration activities
  • Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Managing engineering documentation and drawing records
  • Updating technical specifications and product data
  • Assisting with Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and document control processes
  • Producing reports and engineering-related documentation
  • Liaising with manufacturing, purchasing and production teams
  • Supporting continuous improvement projects across the engineering department
  • Learning and developing proficiency in 3D CAD software
  • Assisting Design Engineers with product development and drawing creation
  • Building technical knowledge of products, manufacturing processes and engineering standards

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confident IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • A willingness to learn and develop within an engineering environment
  • An interest in mechanical design and product development
  • Knowledge of CAD software through education or placement experience would be advantageous
