Your new company Hays are working with a local Mechanical & Electrical Services' contractor who have been in business for over 50 years. This firm has been providing their M&E expertise on installation and maintenance to a broad client base across the UK and Ireland. In recent years, they have developed their Facilities Maintenance offering to complement their installation and aftercare on larger projects. This has allowed them to gain a strong reputation for maintenance and small works projects and win new business.

Your new role Working as part of the commercial team, you will contribute to the effective delivery on a mix of prestigious local contracts within a Measured Term Contract agreement. As a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support, specific to mechanical works, to the operational teams, delivering planned & reactive maintenance and minor works projects across a number of contracts throughout Northern Ireland. Some of the key duties will be to:

  • Manage minor works measures completed by site-based operations teams, ensuring all job write-ups & day works are accurately completed and to programme.
  • Quantify site measures for larger projects, ensuring all material is accurately measured at key milestones of the construction programme.
  • Preparation of final accounts and contractual document submissions.
  • Overall management of accounts submissions in accordance with company and contractual deadlines.
  • Evaluation of sub-contractor applications & payment certificates.

What you'll need to succeed You will come from a mechanical trades background and have quantity surveying experience, specifically on the MTC form contract. OR You will have a Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying or a similar construction discipline with experience of working for a maintenance contractor on mechanical building services works. It is essential that you have good knowledge of Measured Term Form of Contract and the PSA Schedule of Rates. You will need to possess excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

What you'll get in return Salary £47,000 - £52,000 depending on experience plus car allowance. 30 days annual leave, including stat days. Free on-site car parking. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
