Hays Engineering is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading global manufacturing organisation for a Graduate Design Engineer position based in the Dungannon area. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious engineering graduate to join a world-class engineering team, working on innovative products used across international markets.

The Role

As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will work closely with experienced engineers to develop and improve mechanical products and manufacturing processes. You will gain hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to testing and production support.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Assisting with the development of manufacturing specifications and bills of materials
  • Supporting engineering change management processes
  • Working collaboratively with Production, Quality, Manufacturing and Service teams
  • Identifying and resolving engineering issues using a root-cause approach
  • Contributing to product improvement and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting prototype development, testing and validation activities

What You'll Need

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline (minimum 2:2 preferred)
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles
  • Experience using 3D CAD software through university projects or placements
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Desirable

  • Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Experience of Product Data Management (PDM) systems
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Familiarity with Creo / Pro-Engineer or similar CAD packages
