Your new company Hays NI are proud to be assisting a building & maintenance contractor based in Co. Down in their search for a Health & Safety Officer to support their growing HSEQ. Your new role As Health & Safety Officer, you will support the Health & Safety Manager in the delivery and continuous improvement of HSEQ systems across all projects. This is a varied and hands-on role within a fast-paced construction environment, requiring both initiative and strong collaboration with operational teams.
- Supporting the implementation and development of HSEQ systems across the business
- Assisting with the generation and maintenance of compliance and quality documentation
- Supporting the reporting, investigation and documentation of incidents, near misses and non-conformances
- Coordinating and monitoring health & safety training and competency requirements
- Undertaking site inspections and audits, and supporting the preparation and review of RAMS
- Assisting with internal audits and maintaining ISO management systems
- Monitoring compliance and ensuring health & safety standards are consistently applied
- Working closely with site and operational teams to promote a strong safety culture
- Supporting the delivery of health & safety initiatives and campaigns
This role will involve travel across Northern Ireland.
What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this role, you should have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Health & Safety qualification)
- Experience within a construction, engineering or similar environment in a H&S role
- Understanding of safe systems of work and construction-related legislation
- Experience supporting or working within ISO-accredited management systems
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes within construction
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
You will also demonstrate:
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and develop
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability within a busy project environment
