Your new company is a well-established and growing construction business in Co. Down seeking a Finance Controller to take full ownership of the finance function. This is a hands-on, commercially focused leadership role offering genuine progression to Finance Director as the business continues to scale. The company is privately owned, fast-moving, and highly ambitious - making this an ideal opportunity for a driven finance professional ready to step into a true No.1 in Finance position.
Your new role involves reporting directly to the Managing Director, leading the entire finance function, overseeing all financial operations, controls, reporting, and commercial analysis. You will manage a small team across AP, AR, and Payroll, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance while also driving strategic financial performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Full ownership of the finance function
- Cashflow management, forecasting & financial planning
- Monthly management accounts, reporting & analysis
- Budgeting, cost control & profitability review
- Oversight of AP, AR & Payroll
- VAT, compliance & statutory requirements
- Partnering with the MD on commercial decisions, pricing, tenders and performance improvement
- Implementing and strengthening financial controls and processes
This is a role where you will be expected to challenge, influence and drive improvement, not simply produce reports.
What you'll need to succeed:
- QBE, part-qualified or qualified accountant with strong financial management experience
- Background in construction or a similar project-based environment is advantageous
- Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to operate as the senior finance lead
- Experience managing or overseeing finance teams
- Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function
