  • Develop and validate BMS control strategies from initial design through to on-site optimisation
  • Carry out site surveys, assessments, and feasibility studies across the UK
  • Work closely with fabrication teams to ensure designs translate accurately into manufactured solutions
  • Support commissioning activities, including BMS proofing and optimisation
  • Ensure all work meets health & safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Attend internal and external design meetings; liaise professionally with clients, suppliers, and contractors
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and team development

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar mechanical design role
  • Strong experience with LTHW, MTHW, and steam heating systems
  • Solid understanding of UK & European design standards and legislation
  • Confident communicator with strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage your own workload while contributing to wider team objectives
  • Experience with site surveys, energy assessments, audits, and service coordination
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Desirable:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM 360
  • Experience using IES, Hysopt, or similar simulation software
  • Knowledge of decarbonisation strategies and energy-efficiency measures
  • Hands-on experience with heat pump technologies (including >1MW systems)
  • Understanding of refrigerants, heat pump optimisation, and system design
  • Experience with solar thermal, district heating, or large-scale energy networks
  • Experience in data centre applications (HTG & CHW systems)
  • BREEAM experience and building energy monitoring/verification
