Your new company Hays are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing manufacturing organisation to recruit a Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional to take ownership of SHE strategy and performance within a fast-paced operational environment, driving positive culture change and continuous improvement across the business.

Your new role involves reporting into senior leadership, where you will be responsible for leading, developing and continuously improving the organisation's Safety, Health & Environmental Management System while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, standards and best practices. You will work closely with managers and operational teams to embed a proactive safety culture, reduce risk and support sustainable business operations.

Your duties will include:

  • Leading the development and continuous improvement of the SHE Management System.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Driving a positive SHE culture through visible leadership, coaching and engagement.
  • Supporting risk assessments, hazard identification and implementation of control measures.
  • Leading incident, near-miss and environmental investigations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Developing and delivering SHE training and awareness programmes.
  • Supporting environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and waste reduction activities.
  • Monitoring and reporting on SHE performance metrics and improvement plans.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Previous experience in a Safety, Health & Environmental leadership position within a manufacturing or operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and Northern Ireland SHE legislation and management systems.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining SHE Management Systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience carrying out audits, investigations and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office.

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent higher-level qualification.
  • Membership of IOSH, IEMA or another relevant professional body.
  • Experience working within ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 environments.
  • Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Experience supporting sustainability programmes and organisational culture improvement initiatives.
