Your new company Hays are working in partnership with a well-established main contractor with a strong pipeline of projects across Northern Ireland and the wider UK. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Buyer to strengthen their commercial and procurement function.
Your new role As Buyer, you will support the procurement process across multiple live projects, ensuring materials, plant and services are sourced efficiently and competitively. You will place purchase orders, liaise closely with suppliers and internal project teams, track deliveries against programme requirements and resolve any supply issues as they arise. You will also assist with supplier negotiations, maintain accurate procurement records, monitor costs against budgets and build strong working relationships with both new and existing suppliers to support successful project delivery.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Recent experience in a Buyer or procurement-focused role, within construction or a related industry
- Strong knowledge of supply chain coordination and purchase order management
- Confidence in supplier engagement and commercial negotiations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail with a professional and organised approach
- Good working knowledge of procurement or ERP systems
