Your new company
Our client is a well-established and growing engineering manufacturer specialising in heavy-duty industrial equipment. Due to continued investment and expansion, they are now seeking to appoint an experienced Design Engineer to join their established engineering team.
Your new role
As Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of heavy-duty machinery, supporting both new product development and the continuous improvement of existing equipment. This is a technically challenging role that requires strong attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components for industrial shredding equipment
- Produce detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, specifications, and safety requirements
- Work closely with production, procurement and project teams to deliver efficient, cost-effective design solutions
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities
- Support new products from initial concept through to manufacture
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and manage design changes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing processes
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience in a design engineering role, ideally within heavy machinery or industrial equipment
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar
- A solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication techniques
- The ability to produce and interpret detailed technical drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills with a structured and methodical approach
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable experience
- Background in recycling, waste processing, or materials handling sectors
- Knowledge of stress analysis (FEA) and mechanical calculations
- Experience with hydraulic systems and heavy-duty drive systems
- Exposure to regulated or quality-driven manufacturing environments
