We have an exciting opportunity for a Weighbridge Operator to join a well-established and growing organisation within the waste management sector. The business prides itself on maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service across its operations.
Your new role
As a Weighbridge Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the weighbridge and administration systems. You will ensure all waste movements are accurately recorded and compliant with statutory legislation and company procedures. You will also act as the first point of contact for drivers, contractors, and visitors, playing a key role in maintaining a safe, organised, and professional site environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the weighbridge system accurately and complete all required documentation
- Record vehicle registrations, haulier details, and material types using specialised software
- Identify abnormal vehicle weights or potential contamination and escalate where necessary
- Ensure incoming waste complies with site permits and acceptance criteria
- Produce routine tonnage and operational reports
- Welcome and direct drivers, contractors, and visitors around the site
- Monitor and manage HGV traffic flow within the weighbridge area
- Ensure all visitors sign in/out and adhere to PPE requirements
- Deliver site safety briefings and communicate emergency procedures
- Report incidents, near-misses, and breaches of site rules
- Provide a professional and efficient customer service experience
- Complete general administrative duties
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong communication skills with a professional approach
- Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage workload effectively
- A team-player attitude with a willingness to support colleagues
- A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Occasional travel between sites may be required. A full, clean driving licence and access to your own transport is essential

- Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 07:30 - 17:00; Saturdays: 1 in 3 rotation (08:00 - 12:00)
