Your new company is a well-established food manufacturing business in the Belfast area seeking a Technical Assistant to join its Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a food industry professional looking to further develop their career within food safety, quality and compliance.

Your new role involves supporting the Technical Manager in ensuring food safety, quality, legality and customer requirements are consistently maintained across the business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Audit preparation
  • Quality management systems
  • Customer specifications
  • Internal auditing
  • Complaint investigation
  • Supporting SALSA and Organic audits
  • Completing customer questionnaires and specifications
  • Conducting internal audits
  • Monitoring CCPs and GMP standards
  • Undertaking shelf-life and microbiological sampling
  • Managing traceability requirements
  • Supporting non-conformance investigations

You will also work closely with suppliers and production teams to ensure compliance standards are maintained and continuous improvements are identified and implemented.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a Technical or Quality role within a food manufacturing environment
  • Food Hygiene, Food Science, Regulatory qualification or relevant degree
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to conduct audits, investigations and manage corrective actions effectively
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Level 3 Food Safety, HACCP and retailer standards experience would be advantageous
