A large, well-established company which specialises in utilities, civil engineering and infrastructure is looking for a number of Field Service Engineers to work on electric vehicle chargers across commercial and industrial settings throughout Northern Ireland.
This role is responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, testing, and commissioning of electric vehicle chargers and associated equipment across commercial and industrial settings. The position supports both reactive and planned works, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality electrical service delivery. This is an opportunity to join a new division, help shape the service operation, and contribute to building a high-performing team from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out reactive call-outs and preventive maintenance; to comprise fault diagnosis, testing, component replacement, and repair across a range of electrical systems and equipment.
- Perform electrical testing, including insulation resistance, continuity, loop/Ze testing, and verification, while following safe isolation and lockout/tag out procedures.
- Investigate and troubleshoot electrical and control-related faults using diagnostic tools, technical drawings, and service documentation.
- Support commissioning activities for new installations, including inspection, testing, documentation, and handover.
You will be required to:
- Recognised electrical qualification to Level 3 or above in Electrotechnical Installation or Maintenance (for example, NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship, or equivalent), with the ability to demonstrate occupational competence.
- Experience in inspection, testing, fault-finding, installation, commissioning, or field service within commercial, industrial, utilities, energy, building services, or comparable environments; confidence in reading single-line diagrams and using electrical test instruments.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- Experience with EV charging infrastructure would be advantageous, although manufacturer training will be provided.
- Familiarity with power distribution, control systems, commissioning processes, and ideally EV charging systems including DC fast charging, OCPP, basic IP networking, and service diagnostics.
- An ECS or JIB card would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of CMMS or ticketing tools and remote triage workflows.
- Willingness to travel and participate in a rota or on-call schedule.
