You'll be joining a well-established professional services organisation with a multi-entity structure and a busy, collaborative finance function. The business operates in a fast-paced environment and places strong value on accuracy, process improvement and developing its finance team. As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function through end-to-end accounts payable processing while also assisting with core accounting activities. This position is designed to relieve pressure on senior finance resources and provides exposure across transactional and month-end responsibilities which will include:

  • Processing high-volume supplier invoices across multiple entities
  • Performing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving queries
  • Preparing and executing regular supplier payment runs
  • Managing employee expenses and related postings
  • Assisting with journals, accruals and month-end close activities
  • Maintaining accurate records within the finance system and Excel
  • Liaising with suppliers, internal finance colleagues and operational managers

This role reports to senior members of the finance team and offers variety alongside structured support.

To be successful, you'll ideally bring:

  • Proven experience in Assistant Accountant role
  • Exposure to multi-entity or service-based environments
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems (ERP experience desirable)
  • AAT qualification or active study, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • A methodical, organised approach with high attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • The ability to manage deadlines in a fast-moving finance function
