We are seeking a capable and well-rounded Assistant Accountant to join an established finance team, which consists of five members within this part of the wider group of companies. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting directly to the Group Finance Manager. The role offers comprehensive exposure across the finance function and is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Perform bank reconciliations in both GBP and EUR
  • Prepare and post journals, including accruals and prepayments
  • Maintain and reconcile sales and purchase ledgers
  • Handle VAT and RCT submissions and compliance
  • Produce accounts to trial balance, including work-in-progress (WIP) and prepayments
  • Support internal reporting and assist with ad hoc financial analysis

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience using Sage 50 and Sage Payroll (this is a mandatory requirement)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and processes
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formula creation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple sites
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
