A public sector organisation is recruiting for a Demonstrator / Baker with Touring Guide Duties based in Culleybackey on a part-time basis.

As a Demonstrator / Baker with Tour Guiding responsibilities, you will play a key role in delivering an engaging and memorable visitor experience at a heritage site. You will combine traditional craft skills with storytelling, bringing history to life through interactive demonstrations and guided tours.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering live, costumed baking demonstrations using traditional methods, including open-fire cooking.
  • Welcoming visitors and providing an exceptional, customer-focused experience.
  • Leading guided tours, sharing historical insights into rural life, heritage, and local traditions.
  • Supporting the day-to-day operation of the site, including opening/closing procedures, cleaning, and maintaining presentation standards.
  • Managing supplies and ordering materials for demonstrations.
  • Assisting with events, workshops, and heritage craft sessions.
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance and maintaining a safe environment for visitors and staff.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the site and wider regional tourism offering.
  • Providing administrative support and contributing to continuous service improvement initiatives.

This is a part-time role (25 hours per week) and will require flexibility, including weekend working and occasional support across other locations.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a passion for heritage, strong interpersonal skills, and hands-on experience in customer-facing environments. You will ideally have:

  • A minimum level of education equivalent to GCSEs (including English and Maths) or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in traditional baking or craft-based demonstrations.
  • Experience engaging with the public, ideally within tourism, hospitality, or heritage settings.
  • Experience delivering guided tours or presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge or interest in rural history, farming life, or cultural heritage.
  • A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • A full driving licence and access to transport (or equivalent ability to travel for the role).

Strong communication skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards are essential.

Based in Culleybackey, £14.17 per hour, temporary post for 3 months, shift patterns 25 hours per week.
