Your new company is an established building, fit out and refurbishment contractor with projects across the UK and Northern Ireland. They are seeking a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in Portadown. This role is central to ensuring the commercial success of their projects, supporting both pre-construction and live project delivery across a diverse portfolio.
Your new role involves managing all cost-related aspects of construction projects, ensuring value for money, strong financial control, and compliance with contractual obligations. You will work closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and senior management to support the successful delivery of high-quality construction outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Cost Management - Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets, cost plans, and cash-flow forecasts.
- Tendering & Procurement - Prepare BOQs, tender documents, and subcontractor packages; evaluate and negotiate tenders.
- Contract Administration - Manage contract documentation, variations, valuations, and claims.
- Measurement & Valuation - Conduct accurate measurement of works and prepare interim and final valuations.
- Risk & Value Engineering - Identify cost risks and opportunities, advising on value-driven solutions.
- Reporting - Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and commercial updates for senior management.
- Stakeholder Collaboration - Work closely with site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure commercial alignment.
Due to the location of projects, you must be flexible with UK travel.
What you'll need to succeed- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a QS role (construction or civil engineering preferred).
- Strong understanding of NEC or JCT contract forms.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in measurement software and MS Office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative project team.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
