Your new company Hays are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established public sector organisation that delivers a wide range of community, environmental and wellbeing services across the local area. Your new role As Administration Officer, you will provide comprehensive administrative support across a busy operational department. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of day-to-day administrative functions while supporting colleagues, customers and external responsibilities will include: Providing confidential and professional administrative support across a range of service areas. Handling telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries from members of the public, businesses and partner organisations. Preparing and issuing correspondence, maintaining records and updating departmental databases. Managing electronic and paper-based filing systems and ensuring accurate record keeping. Producing reports, maintaining registers and supporting information management processes. Organising meetings, taking minutes and carrying out follow-up actions. Processing payments, maintaining financial records, raising purchase orders and monitoring expenditure. Assisting with website updates, marketing materials and service publications. Supporting reception services and providing flexible administrative cover across the wider team when required. Contributing to service improvement initiatives and ensuring high standards of customer service are maintained throughout. What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this position, applicants should have: A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English Language at Grade C or above. At least 1 year's administrative experience in an office environment. Alternatively, candidates without the qualification requirements may be considered if they can demonstrate at least 3 years' relevant administrative will also be able to demonstrate: Experience using computerised information management systems. Experience delivering frontline customer service as part of a team. The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a busy environment. Strong organisational, communication and administrative skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Excellent attention to detail and a professional approach to customer service.
