Your new company Hays Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded primary school in the Preston area to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 6 Teaching Assistant.

Your new role As a Year 6 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils in their academic development and preparation for the transition to secondary school.

You will provide both classroom and small-group support, helping to raise attainment and build pupils' confidence across the curriculum, with a particular focus on English and Mathematics.

Key responsibilities will include: Supporting teaching and learning within a Year 6 classroom.

Delivering targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.

Assisting pupils with SATs preparation and consolidation of key skills.

Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

Supporting pupils with varying learning needs to achieve their full potential.

Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents where appropriate.

What you'll need to succeed The successful candidate will: Have previous experience working within a primary school setting.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.

Be confident supporting Year 6 pupils across core subjects.

Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Be patient, nurturing, and committed to helping children succeed.

Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).

Have a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
