Your new company is a leading UK infrastructure services provider delivering major improvements to a key strategic transport structure in Scotland. With a strong track record in highways, civil engineering, and asset management, the organisation is recognised for delivering complex refurbishment projects that enhance network resilience while minimising disruption to road users.

Your new role will be for 3 months+ to cover long term sick leave as a Works Manager. You will take full responsibility for the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of operational works on a major live infrastructure project. Reporting to the Site Agent, you will oversee daily construction activities, managing site teams, subcontractors, and resources to ensure programme milestones are achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading site operations, ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, budget, and quality expectations
  • Managing and coordinating subcontractors, direct labour, and plant resources
  • Driving a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, ensuring full compliance with HSQE standards
  • Reviewing and implementing method statements, risk assessments, and permits to work
  • Monitoring progress and reporting on performance, identifying and mitigating risks
  • Liaising closely with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to maintain strong working relationships
