Our mission is guided by Christ, inspired to service, and aspiring for excellence. St Thomas More is a good school (Ofsted 2022) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular, always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit, and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of History keen to work with our team to achieve excellent outcomes for all our students. You will be joining an experienced group of qualified practitioners who work as a team with a friendly, sharing culture. History is a popular option subject in the school with rapidly growing numbers at KS4 and KS5. There are opportunities to teach at all key stages and to lead field trips at home and abroad for all year groups, along with opportunities for career progression within and outside of the curriculum team.

This vacancy is a unique opportunity; for a newly qualified teacher, this would provide an excellent start to your teaching career, while for more experienced colleagues there are varied further development opportunities and rewards available. The ideal candidate will share our vision to raise standards and make a significant contribution to providing the best possible education for the children in our school.

In return, our school can offer you a welcoming and inclusive environment, with a culture of openness and transparency. We value highly the wellbeing of all our staff and offer a number of benefits to support this. With the wellbeing of our colleagues at the centre of our thinking, our Governing Body has given their support to an innovative approach to the structure of the working week. As of September 2026, all teaching colleagues, at all levels, will be afforded the opportunity to work to a Nine Day Fortnight. This exciting development, supportive of colleagues' wellbeing, will see those who opt in have one day per fortnight (at school discretion and based on curriculum need) to use at their discretion at home for non-school related purposes.

As a school, and firmly based on research elsewhere, we believe this will enthuse, enhance and invigorate effective planning, classroom delivery, student engagement and the general wellbeing of all within our school community, staff and students alike. As the successful candidate, you will also benefit from support, mentoring and development tailored to you, training linked to NPQML and NPQSL, and further CPD supported by the Diocese and local providers. Colleagues flourish at St Thomas More Catholic School, and we offer fantastic career advancement for teachers at all levels. Our school is a very special and unique place. Students are friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Staff are caring, supportive and dedicated to finding the true potential in every one of our students.
