At Hays Education, we are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Wigan to recruit a Food Technician to join their Design & Technology department on a short-term basis from after May half-term through to the end of the academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised individual to support a busy and engaging food technology department during a key period.

Your new role

As a Food Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting both staff and students by ensuring practical lessons run smoothly and safely. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing ingredients, equipment, and materials for food technology lessons
  • Supporting teachers during practical sessions
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations
  • Cleaning utensils, equipment, and workspaces after lessons
