Hays are now looking for a Service Transition Manager / SME. In the role, you will ensure new and changed services are delivered into live operations smoothly, safely, and with full operational readiness. You'll work closely with our clients' delivery teams to guide controlled transition, assure service acceptability, and maintain alignment across technical and business stakeholders.
Circa £600 p/d Inside IR35 Hybrid - 2 days P/W in Taunton, 3 days WFH 6 Month Contract - likely to be extended. Candidates must hold valid SC Clearance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Acting as a key stakeholder for delivery teams from project inception through to go-live, ensuring early capture of service transition requirements.
- Supporting teams with the creation and review of Service Acceptance Criteria, Support Models and Service Transition Packs.
- Running regular engagement sessions with Project Managers, Delivery Leads, and operational teams to track transition progress.
- Reviewing project deliverables and formally assuring operational readiness for new or changed services.
- Identifying service transition risks and advising on mitigations to ensure stable and supportable live operations.
- Acting as a conduit between project delivery and BAU service management teams to maintain alignment and awareness.
- Providing subject-matter expertise on best practice service transition processes and structured transitions into support.
- Supporting CAB processes and contributing to go/no-go readiness decisions.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in Service Transition or Service Acceptance roles, ideally within complex or multi-project environments.
- Expert understanding of ITIL Service Transition processes and full-service lifecycle concepts.
- Ability to assess and assure operational readiness, with experience reviewing transition documentation sets.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and gain buy-in across technical and non-technical groups.
- Strong communication skills, capable of producing clear documentation and presenting recommendations confidently.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams, balance competing priorities, and maintain a strategic perspective.
- Familiarity with project delivery lifecycles and associated planning, monitoring, and governance methods.
- ITIL v4 Foundation certification (or equivalent knowledge).
- Current SC Clearance.
