Job Description

Accounts & Assurance Assistant ManagerHampshire | Hybrid and flexible working £45,000 to £60,000 depending on experience

Your new company

A growing accountancy firm is seeking an Accounts & Assurance Assistant Manager to join its established team. The firm advises a varied client base that includes successful owner-managed businesses, corporate groups and private equity-backed organisations. This newly created position has arisen through growth and would suit someone looking for a visible progression route, broader client responsibility and the opportunity to develop their management experience.

Your new role

You will manage a portfolio of accounts and assurance assignments, taking responsibility for work from the planning stage through to completion and manager or partner review.

Your role will include:

  • Planning and completing audit and assurance assignments
  • Reviewing audit files and statutory accounts
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements
  • Identifying key risks and raising matters with managers and partners
  • Managing assignment budgets, deadlines and client expectations
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients
  • Supporting the development of ACA and ACCA trainees
  • Coaching and reviewing the work of junior team members
  • Contributing to the continued growth of the department

You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior decision-makers while developing the technical, commercial and people-management skills required for future progression.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be ACA or ACCA qualified during 2026, or have around one to two years' post-qualified experience gained within an accountancy firm. You should have a strong background in audit, assurance and statutory accounts, together with experience of taking ownership of assignments and communicating directly with clients. Previous coaching or reviewing experience would be useful, although support will be provided as you move further into management.

What you'll get in return

You will receive a salary of £45,000 to £60,000, depending on experience, alongside:

  • Hybrid working
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A no-overtime policy
  • Repayment of outstanding qualification or training fees, where applicable
  • A structured progression programme
  • Clear opportunities to progress towards Manager
  • Career coaching and ongoing professional development
  • Exposure to groups and private equity-backed organisations
  • The opportunity to develop your team-management experience
  • A wider benefit package

This role offers genuine progression without the expectation that longer hours should automatically come with increased responsibility.
