A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to support the delivery of a major active travel and public realm improvement scheme in Barrow-in-Furness. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on supervisor with strong highways and streetworks experience to join a well-established team delivering high-quality infrastructure upgrades.
Your new role
You will take responsibility for day-to-day supervision of site activities across public realm, drainage, streetworks and road construction packages. The role involves coordinating multiple work fronts, ensuring safe and efficient delivery, and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Key duties include:
- Supervising three operational gangs across drainage, kerbing, street lighting and general streetworks
- Managing daily site operations, ensuring compliance with programme, quality and safety requirements
- Supporting delivery of an active travel project, including footway, cycleway and public realm improvements
- Coordinating with engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain workflow and resolve issues
- Completing site documentation, permits, briefings and safety checks
- Upholding a positive safety culture and ensuring all works meet statutory and client standards
What you'll need to succeed
- SSSTS or SMSTS (essential)
- Streetworks and/or roadworks experience (essential)
- CSCS Card
- Proven experience supervising gangs on highways, drainage, kerbing or public realm scheme.
- Strong understanding of street lighting, drainage installation and kerbing operations
- Ability to manage multiple teams and maintain progress across several work areas
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A proactive, safety-driven approach
