Your New Role: As a Sheet Metal Worker, you will be responsible for manufacturing and installing high-quality sheet metal components across a range of projects. This includes ventilation systems, furniture, and structural fittings within a shipbuilding environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal components
- Fabricating items such as lockers, cabinets, and ventilation systems
- Using a variety of hand and power tools to complete precision work
- Ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety standards
- Working collaboratively within a team to deliver installations safely and efficiently
- Maintaining compliance with SHE, COSHH, and other safety regulations
You'll be working across a variety of shift patterns including days, nights, or weekends, depending on operational requirements.
What You'll Need to Succeed: To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate strong technical expertise and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Essential requirements:
- A recognised Modern Apprenticeship, Trade Papers, or SVQ/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) (Certificates must be provided at application stage)
- Experience in Construction, Manufacturing, Marine, or Engineering Environments
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and sheet metal work
- Knowledge of safety standards including SHE, COSHH, and PUWER
- High attention to detail and commitment to 'right first time' quality
Desirable:
- Experience in HVAC manufacturing/installation
- Experience working at height or in confined spaces
- Background within large-scale industrial or marine projects
