Your new role
This newly created position offers the opportunity to lead a team of specialist policy lawyers within the expanding Enforcement team, working on high-profile and complex legal matters. As a key figure in the team, you will act as the primary point of contact for legal and policy-related questions, while also playing a central role in shaping strategy across the organisation. You will have regular exposure to senior leadership and significant scope to influence decision-making.
In this role, you will lead a specialist team responsible for driving policy and strategy across complex investigations, while providing high-quality legal advice and analysis to the Enforcement Division. You will oversee key workstreams, to develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures, and produce clear and impactful guidance on major cross-cutting issues. Collaboration will be central to your success, as you work closely with senior legal and policy stakeholders both internally and across external agencies. You will also instruct specialist counsel on complex matters, manage strategic stakeholder relationships, and provide line management to an existing and growing team.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with significant experience in regulatory law, public law and/or commercial litigation. You will bring strong intellectual capability, sound judgement, and excellent legal and analytical skills, along with the credibility to engage effectively with senior professionals. Financial management and budgeting skills will also be important, as will the ability to build and maintain effective internal relationships. A genuine interest in public interest work is essential, and prior litigation experience would be advantageous.
