Your new companyOur client is a well-established building servicesconsultancy with 2 decades of experience delivering mechanical, electrical andsustainability solutions to a broad range of clients across the UK &Ireland, and the EU.Their services range from design, surveys, utilityapplications, energy strategies, energy planning statements, SAP/EPCcalculations, and final construction requirements.They pride themselves in having a strong repeatbusiness client base by focusing on high quality, bespoke solutions as well asbuilding strong relationships with their clients.This organisation has strong policies targeted todeveloping their engineers, offering L&D and career progressionopportunities.Their office is located in Edinburgh city centre.However, they leverage technology to operate a flexible hybrid working policy.They are looking for a competent Senior MechanicalEngineer to join their expanding team.Your new roleAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will beresponsible for all aspects of design and delivery of mechanical services for aportfolio of projects. You will be responsible for; undertaking calculations,production of drawings, producing specifications and reports, conducting sitesurveys, conducting construction stage duties, providing client liaison,consulting with members of design/construction teams and any other relevantduties required to comply with project briefs.Producing and reviewing mechanical design drawingswill be key.You should be capable of managing your own workloadand the workload of others, updating forward plans of workload regularly &working to time allocations.Key responsibilities:

  • Production and review of detailed design calculations for all aspects of mechanical design.
  • Production of specifications and plant schedules.
  • Production of design notes, basis of design and RIBA stage reports showing compliance with standards and best practice.
  • Production of design drawings from conception through to detailed design.
  • Conducting detailed site surveys and inspection of installations.
  • Mentoring and guidance of junior to intermediate engineers.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Accredited Building Services /Mechanical Engineering degree or higher educational qualification.
  • Chartered engineer or working towards membership.
  • Ability to manage and deliver mechanical building services engineering designs across a range of sectors.
  • Experienced in project lead and delivery of mechanical services across multiple projects
  • Conducting any or all stages of mechanical design from concept to completion as required.
  • Experience in a range of digital tools including AutoCAD, Revit, IES, NBS and Microsoft packages.
  • Fully conversant with technical and legislation requirements for mechanical services equipment and installation design and management.
  • Able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions on developing the discipline design elements, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Consulting closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Experience of producing and supporting fee estimates and bid writing would be beneficial.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring junior to intermediate engineers.
