I am delighted to be working with my client who is looking to hire a senior in-house lawyer with a focus on commercial contracts, data and AI to join the in-house legal team. You will have a particular interest in technology, data protection and AI.
You will be a trusted advisor, providing expert legal support and solutions on AI, data and commercial contracting matters, as well as a broader range of matters as and when.
The role requires a proactive lawyer who can effectively develop projects and handle day-to-day queries from senior stakeholders, including senior management.
You will join a team of senior lawyers with day to day reporting to the General Counsel for EMEA.
Responsibilities - you will:
- Advise on the drafting, review and negotiation of commercial contracts, including technology, software services agreements.
- Advise on the use, procurement and deployment of AI tools and systems, including AI governance, risk assessment and emerging AI regulation.
- Advise on data protection and privacy matters, including compliance with data protection legislation and management of data-related risks.
- Design and implement compliance systems and procedures, including in respect of AI and data governance.
- Lead on global risk management projects.
- Advise on commercial contract risks more broadly across the business.
- Develop and roll out global risk management policies and provide training, including on AI, data and commercial contracting topics, working with the L&D team to achieve this.
It is essential that you have significant experience advising on data protection, technology matters and drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Any exposure to AI matters is also highly desirable.
You will be a UK qualified lawyer with significant relevant experience (a minimum of 7+ years PQE, gained within the UK) gained either in private practice or in-house.
On top of the basic salary (to a maximum basic of 130,000 per annum) and an excellent benefits package, you will benefit from a hybrid working policy (applicants must live within a daily commute of Leeds).
