With continued investment and growth in its in-house advocacy offering, the organisation is now seeking a senior advocate to play a key role in both technical delivery and team leadership.
Your new role
This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced Solicitor Advocate or Barrister to take on complex, high-value litigation work while also shaping the direction of a growing advocacy team. You will operate independently, without supervision, undertaking the most technically demanding advocacy, advisory and drafting work. In addition, you will play a significant role in mentoring junior lawyers, supporting team development and contributing to client strategy and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a broad range of complex advocacy matters, including: multi-track trials and high-value hearings, complex interlocutory applications and CCMCs, JSMs, sanctions, recoveries and specialist proceedings.
- Draft and settle high-value and complex pleadings.
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders and clients.
- Travel to North West courts.
- Develop and maintain at least one recognised niche specialism.
- Act as a key technical resource across core practice areas.
- Supervise and mentor junior advocates.
- Assist with, or lead, the management of sub-teams.
- Deliver training and legal updates across the wider business.
- Build strong relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to product development and client-facing initiatives.
- Support the growth and market profile of the in-house advocacy team.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Barrister (practising certificate) or Solicitor Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience.
- 7 years' PQE or call.
- Proven track record as an advocate across multiple disciplines.
- Strong experience in at least three of the following: insurance fraud, personal injury (EL/PL), large loss, costs or professional negligence.
- Demonstrable technical excellence and ability to handle complex litigation independently.
- Experience mentoring or managing junior team members.
- Strong commercial awareness and client-facing capability.
- Established reputation as a trusted advisor internally and externally.
