Your New Role
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation's health, safety, environmental and compliance frameworks. Acting as the organisation's competent Health & Safety Advisor and Data Protection Officer, you will provide expert guidance to senior leadership whilst ensuring all statutory and regulatory obligations are met.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the Health & Safety strategy and compliance programme across multiple sites
- Driving a positive safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives
- Managing accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Overseeing risk assessments, safe systems of work and contractor management processes
- Leading fire safety and emergency planning arrangements
- Acting as Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and information governance requirements
- Managing environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives
- Maintaining the corporate risk register and supporting business continuity planning
- Delivering compliance training and awareness programmes
- Producing compliance reports, dashboards and assurance reporting for senior leadership and governance committees
- Supporting internal audits, external inspections and regulatory reviews
This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to influence organisational culture and provide strategic assurance to senior stakeholders.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety compliance role
- Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice
- Experience managing organisational compliance frameworks and governance processes
- Knowledge of environmental compliance and sustainability programmes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Strong reporting and presentation skills, with experience engaging senior leadership teams and boards
Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH membership, data protection qualifications or equivalent compliance credentials would be advantageous.
