An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious solicitor or chartered legal executive to join a highly regarded healthcare team at a leading firm. The firm will consider applications from associates with 0-6 years of PQE. There is a retrain opportunity for talented defendant EL/PL solicitors or chartered legal executives with previous multi-track experience and a keen interest in defendant clinical negligence work. This role offers a transition into high‑quality NHS related clinical negligence work while continuing to develop their technical and client‑facing skills. Your new role
This Clinical Negligence Associate role will see you:
- Managing a caseload of EL/PL and clinical negligence files
- Drafting detailed reports for key healthcare clients
- Conducting witness interviews and preparing comprehensive witness statements
- Instructing medical experts and counsel
- Attending CMCs, interim hearings, mediations and trials
- Negotiating settlements and conducting conferences with counsel
- Supporting colleagues on higher‑value and complex claims
- Opportunities to undertake client secondments with NHS bodies
- Delivering client training, presentations and drafting articles
- Supervising and coaching junior team members
What you'll need to succeed
- NQ qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive (full litigation rights required)
- Defendant EL/PL experience (preferred)
- Clinical negligence exposure advantageous but retrain supported.
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a growing, hybrid team
- Strong appreciation of client protocols, KPIs and service expectations
- Excellent drafting, communication, and organisation skills
- High attention to detail and proactive, pragmatic approach
- Commitment to data security and professional standards
- Evidence of meeting hours/targets
