Job Description

Your new companyHays Recruitment is proud to be supporting a Wirral-based single-form entry primary school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to work in the KS1 resource base on a long-term full-time basis. This role will last the length of the academic year.

Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be based within a KS1 resource provision supporting a class of 14 pupils with mobility and speech and language requirements. You will play a key part in the learning and development of your new pupils, taking a lead on specific interventions in phonics and speech and language. You will use the RWI phonics scheme and use visual aids to support your pupils' learning, as well as working alongside a speech and language therapist. You will offer 1:1 and group support, integrating pupils into groups to aid in their social and emotional development. As a number of pupils have mobility needs, you will also aid in their physical development by actively encouraging them to take part in physical activities, as you will plan and deliver sports sessions and work alongside a physical therapist.

What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, have recent referenceable classroom experience, and:

  • Have experience delivering phonics and basic speech and language assessments
  • Have a strong interest in sports and/or physical activities
  • Having an NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
