Hays are partnering exclusively with a precision engineering business in Lincoln to recruit an R&D Engineering Manager / Technical Manager for an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. Your Role and Impact
As R&D Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of the technical roadmap, leading feasibility studies, New Product Introduction (NPI), and design control initiatives. You'll be responsible for embedding robust design governance, streamlining workflows, and ensuring that all products meet relevant regulatory standards such as ISO45001. You'll work closely with internal teams, including manufacturing, quality, and commercial; as well as external stakeholders and regulatory bodies. What We're Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate with a proven track record in technical leadership within regulated engineering or manufacturing environments. You should hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline, or have equivalent industry experience. Ideally, you’ll bring significant experience in R&D or technical management roles, with deep expertise in product lifecycle management, DfM, and quality systems. Strong knowledge of design control processes, regulatory compliance, and process standardisation is essential. You should also possess excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, along with a proactive, analytical mindset and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
