Your new company
Our client is undertaking a major, multi-year transformation programme focused on modernising systems, strengthening operational performance, and improving how work is delivered across the organisation. The change is organisation-wide and includes live operations, engineering, infrastructure, retail, and safety-critical environments. The programme is actively sponsored by senior leadership and backed by sustained investment.
Your new role
As Project Manager, you will play a key role in delivering a varied portfolio of technology and operational change initiatives. Reporting into a Senior Project Manager, you will take day-to-day ownership of delivery, working with limited oversight and clear accountability for outcomes. You will lead projects from initiation through delivery and handover, particularly where scope, ownership, or approach is initially unclear. This will involve working closely with senior leaders, operational managers, engineering teams, IT, and external suppliers to agree objectives, shape a pragmatic delivery approach, and move work into controlled execution.
The role requires confident ownership of core project activity, including planning, risk and issue management, dependency management, and delivery tracking. You will be expected to make sound delivery decisions, resolve issues early, and keep work moving rather than relying on escalation. You will deliver across a broad mix of initiatives, which may include enterprise systems, infrastructure and cybersecurity, data and reporting, automation, engineering-adjacent technology, and business-wide operational change. Much of this work will be delivered into live environments, requiring careful coordination with operational teams.
Throughout delivery, you will provide clear, concise reporting to senior stakeholders, translating technical and operational detail into risks, impacts, and decisions. You will also support operational readiness and adoption, ensuring solutions are embedded and usable once delivered. In addition to delivering individual projects, you will contribute to improving how projects are delivered across the business, using agreed tools, templates, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities pragmatically to improve consistency and visibility.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience delivering complex projects in technology, operational, engineering, or infrastructure-adjacent environments
- Demonstrable end-to-end project ownership, including planning, RAID management, delivery, and handover
- Confidence operating in situations where scope or direction is not fully defined at the outset
- Experience working across multiple business functions, not solely within IT
- Experience managing third-party suppliers and holding them accountable for delivery
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment
- Experience communicating with senior stakeholders and supporting decision-making
- Willingness to be on-site to build relationships and understand operational context
What you'll get in return
- Competitive pension contributions
- Bonus schemes and employee recognition programmes
- Life assurance and insurance cover
- Generous annual leave allowance (up to 33 days)
- Christmas bonus
- Salary sacrifice schemes (Cycle to Work, car schemes, pension)
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offering 24/7 confidential support
- Virtual GP service
- Annual flu vaccinations
- A range of staff discounts
