We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Civil Engineer to support the delivery of essential infrastructure across the district - from bridges and reservoirs to forest roads and other vital assets. About the Role
In this varied and rewarding position, you will play a key role in planning, specifying, and delivering a broad programme of civil engineering works. Working with external contractors and internal colleagues, you'll help ensure vital assets remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. You will also contribute to inspections, maintenance activities, minor design work, record-keeping, and the development of a low-carbon, sustainable future.
- Lead on safety and ensure contractors follow high H&S standards.
- Plan and deliver civil engineering works and maintenance.
- Procure and manage contracts, including pre-start meetings.
- Review safety documentation (RAMS) and ensure compliance.
- Monitor contractor performance and report incidents.
- Support senior engineers on complex projects.
- Line manage and mentor works supervisors/operators.
- Produce minor designs and maintain asset records.
- Monitor carbon emissions and support net-zero practices.
- Inspect assets and update mapping/records using internal systems.

Skills, Experience & Knowledge
- Experience in a civil engineering role (planning, design, or site/contract supervision).
- Ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external partners.
- Experience designing and safely delivering civil engineering projects, with a solid understanding of CDM regulations and related legislation.
- Confident IT user, including MS Office.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
