A leading UK manufacturer within the specialist marine, diving and technical equipment sector is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing R&D and engineering function. This organisation designs and manufactures high-performance products used globally across commercial, defence, emergency services and industrial environments.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of full-cycle mechanical design projects - from concept development through to prototyping, testing and production - within a business known for innovation, quality and engineering excellence.
- Lead the mechanical design of new and existing products using 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar).
- Develop concepts, detailed models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure designs are optimised for manufacturability.
- Support R&D, prototyping and testing activities, including material selection and performance validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, fabrication, quality and operations.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or similar.
- Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks preferred).
- Experience designing mechanical components, assemblies or fabricated products.
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to support prototyping and testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects.
- Experience within marine, diving, PPE, technical textiles, pressure systems or similar sectors is advantageous but not essential.
