Contract Role | Main Contractor | Southern Region

Hays Civil Engineering is recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent to join a leading UK infrastructure contractor delivering a significant programme of works across the Southern Water framework.

Working on a range of water and wastewater projects throughout the South of England, this role offers the opportunity to be involved in the delivery of essential infrastructure schemes, including treatment works upgrades, pipelines, reservoirs, pumping stations and other complex civil engineering projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Sub Agent looking for a long-term contract assignment with a busy and well-established contractor operating across a major AMP programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the safe and efficient delivery of allocated sections of work
  • Supporting the Site Agent and Project Manager with day-to-day site operations
  • Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Monitoring progress against programme and identifying solutions to delivery challenges
  • Producing and reviewing RAMS, work packages and site documentation
  • Managing temporary works, permits and engineering activities where required
  • Supporting commercial reporting, cost control and project forecasting
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, designers and key stakeholders

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Sub Agent, Senior Engineer or Site Manager within civil engineering infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and site management principles
  • Experience working for a principal contractor on infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and project controls
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate complex construction activities
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • SMSTS and CSCS certification

Desirable Experience

  • Water or wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Treatment works, pipeline or heavy civil engineering schemes
  • AMP framework experience
  • Temporary works coordination experience
  • Environmental and quality management knowledge
