Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing your own caseload of probate and estate administration matters from initial instruction through to final distribution.
  • Advising clients on probate, inheritance tax and other private-client issues.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documentation such as estate accounts, IHT forms and applications for grants.
  • Maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
  • Supporting junior team members and offering guidance where needed.
  • Working with colleagues in product, technology and customer-facing teams to refine and improve service delivery.
  • Contributing to operational and process-improvement projects, including those involving Legal-tech and AI solutions.
  • Handling sensitive conversations with clients in a clear, professional and empathetic way.
  • Representing the legal team in cross-departmental initiatives and managing escalated matters when required.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Qualified professional (Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive, England & Wales) with at least a year of experience in probate or wider private-client work.
