We are seeking a Senior Engineer - Software to join a Naval Combat Systems programme based in New Malden. This role will focus on leading software development activities across the full software engineering lifecycle, providing technical leadership to engineering teams and delivering secure, reliable, mission-critical capability. The successful candidate will play a key role in software design, development, verification and delivery within a complex engineering environment.
Location: New Malden (Full-time onsite)
Daily Rate: £50.17 per hour PAYE (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: 12 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Security Clearance: BPSS + SC (Current SC, previously held SC, or SC eligible candidates considered)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead software engineering activities throughout the full software development lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for software components and sub-systems.
- Define, develop and maintain software designs in line with engineering standards and principles.
- Review, analyse and improve software work products to ensure robust and efficient solutions.
- Develop software verification and validation strategies, plans and testing activities.
- Engage with stakeholders to capture, refine and manage software requirements.
- Produce estimates and support planning of software engineering work packages and deliveries.
Key Requirements:
- Strong Software Engineering background with experience delivering robust software solutions.
- Experience leading, mentoring and providing technical guidance to software engineering teams.
- Proven experience across software design, development, analysis, verification and testing.
- Strong understanding of software engineering methodologies, processes and best practices.
- Experience working within large, complex engineering or multi-project environments.
- Experience within Defence, Naval, Maritime, Combat Systems, Aerospace or other highly regulated sectors is highly desirable.

- Degree qualified in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technology, Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
