Hays Facilities Management are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Facilities Operations & Safety Manager to join the world-renowned London-based university on an interim basis.

/n This is an excellent opportunity for a Facilities Management professional with strong operational leadership and health & safety expertise to lead facilities services across a diverse property portfolio. The successful candidate will oversee operational delivery, compliance, stakeholder management, contractor performance, and facilities teams while driving service improvements across multiple locations.
/n Facilities Management

/n

/n
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of facilities management services across multiple sites.
/n
- Manage building operations, contractor performance, cleaning, security, and soft services.
/n
- Develop facilities policies, procedures, and operational standards.
/n
- Support new facilities projects, refurbishments, and estate developments.
/n
- Build strong relationships with landlords, service providers, and key stakeholders.
/n

/n

Health & Safety

/n

/n
- Lead health & safety compliance across the estate.
/n
- Develop and implement health & safety policies, risk assessments, and procedures.
/n
- Manage audits, inspections, incidents, and corrective action plans.
/n
- Deliver training and promote a positive health & safety culture.
/n
- Chair health & safety meetings and provide expert advice to stakeholders.
/n

Leadership & Team Management

/n

/n
- Lead, motivate, and develop facilities staff and direct reports.
/n
- Manage resource planning, performance, and service delivery.
/n
- Drive high standards of customer service and stakeholder engagement.
/n
- Support recruitment, induction, and training of team members.
/n

/n

Financial & Operational Management

/n

/n
- Manage facilities budgets, procurement activities, suppliers, and contractors.
/n
- Ensure value for money and efficient service delivery.
/n
- Identify and implement service improvements and operational efficiencies.
/n
- Support strategic planning and business continuity initiatives
/n

/n

What you'll need to succeed
/n Essential

/n

/n
- Significant Facilities Management experience within a complex environment.
/n
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
/n
- Proven experience managing facilities operations and service delivery teams.
/n
- Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and compliance.
/n
- Experience managing budgets, suppliers, and contractors.
/n
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
/n
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
/n

Desirable

/n

/n
- Experience within Higher Education, Public Sector, Healthcare, or similarly complex estates.
/n
- Project management experience.
/n
- Experience supporting estate developments or refurbishment programmes.
/n

/n
