A local authority legal team is seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Solicitor to join on a rolling contract with a long-term outlook. You will be joining a supportive, highly collaborative in-house environment handling impactful Adult Social Care work at a busy time for the department.

You will provide specialist legal advice across Adult Social Care services with a strong focus on Court of Protection matters. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising ASC services on a full range of Care Act and Mental Capacity Act issues
  • Managing Court of Protection cases (including drafting applications and orders)
  • Instructing and liaising with counsel
  • Handling ordinary residence, funding disputes, and Mental Health Act queries
  • Running professionals' meetings and engaging directly with internal clients
  • Monitoring relevant case law and providing practical updates to colleagues

This is a hands-on role in a busy team where you will be trusted to work autonomously from day one.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Qualified Solicitor/Barrister/CILEX
  • Strong Local Authority legal experience (essential)
  • Solid background in Adult Social Care law & Court of Protection work (including Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1986)
  • Ability to manage a fast-moving caseload with minimal supervision
  • Confident communicator able to advise non-lawyers clearly and pragmatically
