Core Applications Manager - London (Hybrid)

High level overview - please read carefully before applying. This role is suited to candidates currently working in application support, service delivery or production support roles within the London Market or speciality insurance sector, with proven experience managing offshore vendors and owning live insurance platforms (underwriting, claims or document management systems). If you do not have direct insurance exposure, particularly within a Lloyd's or speciality environment, this is unlikely to be the right fit.

The role involves taking ownership of a portfolio of business-critical systems supporting underwriting, claims and enterprise document management. This is a key role within a product-led transformation, focused on improving platform stability, service quality and vendor performance across a complex application landscape.

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of core systems in production, working closely with internal stakeholders across multiple lines of business to ensure incidents, problems and enhancements are handled effectively. A major focus of the role is the management of third-party vendors and offshore service providers, ensuring accountability, driving improvements in delivery quality and resolving performance issues across managed services.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring someone who is comfortable operating in live environments, managing P1 and P2 incidents, and navigating the realities of large-scale, multi-vendor ecosystems. You will play a key role in improving how services are delivered, working within established IT service management frameworks while supporting ongoing transformation initiatives.

To be successful, you will bring strong experience in service management within insurance, including vendor and offshore team oversight. You will have worked with tools such as ServiceNow and ideally Azure DevOps, and understand how to operate within structured environments covering incident, problem and release management. Experience with platforms such as Guidewire, Verisk or enterprise content and communications management systems is beneficial but not essential.

This is a high-impact role offering visibility across both technology and the business, suited to someone looking to step into a position with real ownership and influence over how core insurance systems are delivered and supported.
