We are recruiting an Estimator to join a growing, forward-thinking main contractor with a strong presence in the public sector, alongside an expanding private sector portfolio. The Role
You will play a key role in securing work across public and private sector projects, working closely with pre-construction, commercial and operational teams. The position will involve a strong focus on 2-stage tendering, early contractor engagement and competitive single-stage bids.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing detailed cost plans and estimates for public and private sector projects
- Leading and supporting 2-stage tender processes
- Pricing private sector tenders, including competitive single-stage bids
- Interpreting drawings, specifications and employer's requirements
- Producing take-offs and pricing from first principles
- Engaging with supply chain partners to build competitive and compliant bids
- Supporting bid strategy, value engineering and buildability inputs
- Identifying commercial risk and opportunity within tenders
- Contributing to successful handover from pre-construction to delivery
About You
You will be an experienced Estimator who is comfortable working across both public and private sector procurement, enjoys collaboration, and is motivated by being part of a business on an upward trajectory. You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as an Estimator for a main contractor
- Public sector framework experience (education, healthcare, local authority or similar)
- Strong experience of 2-stage tendering
- Private sector tendering experience, including competitive bid environments
- Ability to price from first principles
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, commercially minded approach
- Ambition to grow with a business and help increase its market presence and reputation
