Your new role: As an Electrical Shift Technician, you will be part of a skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining a wide range of plant and equipment within a high-volume container operations environment. Working a 4 on / 4 off days and nights shift pattern, you will deliver both reactive and planned preventative maintenance across terminal operations, including cranes, CRMGs, and straddle carriers. You will respond to machine breakdowns during live operations, carrying out fault diagnosis and repairs safely and efficiently to minimise downtime. The role requires close communication with Engineering Shift Managers, ensuring parts, materials, and follow-up actions are reported accurately and promptly. You will play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability and availability by supporting delivery of the preventative maintenance plan, identifying spare parts requirements, and liaising with internal teams to ensure stock availability. There is also an expectation to support multi-skilled working where appropriate and complete additional training as required. A strong focus on safety underpins the role, with responsibility for working to safe systems of work at all times, following SOPs, and ensuring risk assessments are completed, reviewed, and adhered to.

What you'll need to succeed: To succeed in this role, you will have a strong electrical engineering background and excellent fault-finding capability. A minimum ONC (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant electrical or engineering discipline. Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic experience in an industrial or heavy plant environment. Working knowledge of modern maintenance strategies and control systems, including PLCs. The ability to interpret and work from electrical circuit diagrams. A flexible approach with willingness to develop multi-skilled capabilities. Previous experience on container handling equipment, particularly container cranes, would be advantageous, but is not essential. A full and valid UK driving licence.

What you'll get in return: In return, you'll receive a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support both your career development and overall wellbeing, including:

  • 26 days annual leave
  • Pension scheme with up to 10% matched employer contribution
  • A flexible benefits platform including options such as car schemes, healthcare cash plans, cycle-to-work, gym membership, retail vouchers, and additional insurance products
  • Strong commitment to learning, training, and career development
  • Employee Assistance Programme offering confidential support for physical and mental wellbeing
