Your new company / new role Hays is presenting a unique opportunity to support the affordable housing team of an excellent regional firm with a rapidly growing national presence. Our client acts for national and regional Registered Providers; private sector clients including housebuilders and residential investment clients; and for public sector clients including Local Authorities and NHS Trusts. They are looking for an experienced associate to join their Leeds team who will cover a varied caseload of work including estate set-up and management, land/property development, securitisation and affordable housing as well as land resales and grant schemes.
Your work will involve the negotiation of conditional contracts and development agreements, joint ventures, large-scale portfolio acquisitions, as well as advising on affordable housing planning obligations, disposals and securitisations, site set-ups, asset management and the viability of mixed-use and residential development sites. You should enjoy the accelerated growth of this high-demand sector coupled with the challenge of financial constraints driven by recent welfare reforms and funding changes.
What you'll need to succeed
Our client is looking for someone with a minimum of 4 years PQE who is comfortable handling transactions independently of supervision. Although excellent hybrid working arrangements are available, a preference for a Yorkshire-based candidate is noted, as you will need to report to their Leeds office more frequently during the onboarding process to begin with. It is important for you to fully understand and engage with your new role in the office, whilst providing assistance and expertise to nurture the development of junior staff there too. Strong experience in general property transactions and development is imperative and commercial property experience is also desired, but this does not necessarily have to be within the discipline of social housing. You will need to be credible with local authorities, displaying a thorough knowledge of the regulatory requirements required to properly advise registered providers. You must show a will to build and maintain excellent client relationships in the public and private sectors. Our client would, however, be open to considering a strong candidate whose experience does not tick every box if they were to bring the right qualities, sector credibility, and potential to grow into the role.
What you'll get in return
- Excellent hybrid working arrangements (40% / 60%)
- 25 days of paid holiday (increases with continuous length of service to 28 days, 5 days extra can also be bought)
- Workplace pension offering up to 6% matched contribution
- Performance-based bonus schemes - both firm and personal
- Life assurance at 4x annual salary
- Occupational Sick Pay Scheme
- Private medical insurance, dental insurance & critical illness cover
- Subsidised city centre parking / annual travel ticket loans
- Discounted memberships, voucher offers, and cashback rewards
- Access to 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme - includes free Headspace subscription
