A large national UK Charity has an excellent opportunity within its in-house legal team for a senior (10 PQE) lawyer. The role can be performed completely remotely (with the opportunity for office attendance if preferred). 5 day working week (or a 9 day fortnight). My client is looking to appoint a senior property litigator (minimum 10 years pqe) to advise upon and manage property law disputes arising out of/in connection with the Charity's operational & investment property.
Key to this role is the collaborative working with the surveyors and projects team in advance of new projects. You will also supervise a more junior property litigation lawyer and a paralegal. This is a really interesting and unique property litigation role - often you will be dealing with unregistered land and historical titles.
You will:
- Have main conduct of property law disputes across the Charity's operational estate (e.g. title, trespass, boundary disputes, rights & easements, restrictive covenants, rights of support and claims for nuisance), with adjoining landowners, occupiers & other third parties.
- Take forward high value disputes relating to the Charity's asset & infrastructure responsibility with other public and third sector infrastructure owners.
- Contribute to the management of legal risk on property law disputes.
- Collaborate in providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders and the executive.
- Advise on the Charity's rights & duties in respect of land under the Charity's historic legislation and the enforcement of the Charity's other modern statutory powers.
- Supervise the more junior lawyer and paralegal and work closely with the Charity's Claims Manager.
- Liaise with external solicitors & Counsel to facilitate effective & efficient conduct of those property litigation matters being handled externally.
The ideal lawyer will enjoy working within a close-knit and collaborative legal team, all working from home and enjoying a fantastic work/life balance. You will be a confident lawyer with excellent communication, negotiation and litigation skills and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach. You should be able to quickly gain credibility and buy-in from stakeholders at all levels across this multidisciplinary organisation. You should also have an interest in environmental matters.
On top of the basic salary (a budget of £55,000 - £58,000 per annum is available) and excellent benefits package (including pension to 10%, holidays rising to 30 days with service and two paid CSR days), you will benefit from a collegiate and remote working environment. The team will have non-obligatory face-to-face team meetings each year, plus optional meet-ups on day one for new team members in their home city.
