Hays Health Safety are working with a high-hazard manufacturing business looking for a HSE Specialist with a strong grasp of process safety, to support the HSE Manager and take ownership of COMAH and DSEAR across a complex, fast-moving site. This is a hands-on role with real influence, working across engineering, operations and projects to ensure hazard risks are controlled, systems are robust, and compliance is where it needs to be.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading the site's COMAH programme and maintaining the safety management system
- Overseeing DSEAR compliance, risk assessments and action tracking
- Acting as the key contact for regulators and external bodies
- Supporting projects and commissioning, ensuring safety is built in from the start
- Tracking performance, leading audits and pushing continuous improvement
What they're looking for:
- Strong HSE background in a COMAH / major hazard environment
- Solid understanding of DSEAR and UK HSE legislation
- Experience with process safety tools (HAZOP, MoC, RCA etc.)
- Comfortable influencing operational teams
- NEBOSH qualified, with a relevant degree or similar
The salary for this role is between £60,000 - £70,000 dependent on experience.
