A leading Tier 1 highways maintenance contractor operating across the UK, delivering essential reactive and planned maintenance works for a local highway authority. The organisation places strong emphasis on safety, quality and collaboration, with a clear commitment to employee wellbeing, inclusion and long-term career development. Due to increased workload and network recovery requirements, the business is expanding its delivery support team.

As a Highways Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination and safe delivery of reactive and minor planned highways maintenance works across the local network.

  • Plan and schedule highway maintenance activities using a works management system across multiple delivery teams.
  • Coordinate reactive maintenance, carriageway and footway works, considering traffic management, hazards and resource availability.
  • Review, check and verify work instructions prior to issuing to delivery teams.
  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety, quality and environmental requirements and the local highways authority specification.
  • Undertake site-based inspections and audits to verify compliance with company standards.
  • Support the achievement of contractual KPIs, escalating risks or constraints where performance may be impacted.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Delivery Technician, Delivery Manager, operational teams and supply chain partners.
  • Promote best practice, continuous improvement and effective communication across the delivery function.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
  • Traffic Management qualification - 12D M7 (Lantra).
  • Experience in highways maintenance, network operations or works planning.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative approach with a focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
