A large national UK charity has an excellent opportunity for a senior lawyer to be the sole in-house counsel in the Commercial Contracts space, within a large in-house team.
Applications are welcomed from lawyers with 10+ years of UK commercial contracts experience.
The role can be performed completely remotely (with the opportunity for office attendance if preferred).
My client is looking to appoint a senior commercial contracts lawyer to be the trusted adviser to the Charity, managing risk and maximising commercial opportunities.
The successful lawyer will
- Provide and co-ordinate contract law advice across the full range of the Charity's commercial activities, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Provide advice on the Charity's procurement of goods and services, including tendering of framework contracts for IT software and services, professional services, engineering and construction works etc
- Draft key documents regulating the Charity's relationship with suppliers and customers (e. standard terms & conditions, as well as more specialist Ts&Cs relating to the Charity).
- Advise on commercial law aspects of the Charity's business activities (e. IP, data matters, consumer rights & subsidy control).
- Draft and negotiate funding agreements with third party funders (e. lottery & local govt) & agreements relating to fundraising (e. Ts&Cs for raffles and fundraising events etc).
- Interpret and advise on existing contractual arrangements to clarify the Charity's contractual rights and obligations.
- Conduct and oversight of CDR and litigation.
- Management of external legal services, including the Charity's panel firms (tendering, Ts&Cs, performance reviews etc).
The ideal lawyer will have a minimum of 10+ years of UK gained post-qualification experience.
You will be a confident drafter with excellent communication and negotiation skills and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
You should be able to quickly gain credibility and buy in from stakeholders at all levels across a multidisciplinary organisation.
You should also have an interest in environmental matters.
On top of the basic salary (to a maximum basic of £75,000 per annum) and an excellent benefits package, you will benefit from a collegiate and remote working environment (the team have non-obligatory face-to-face team meetings each year).
