Part-Time Temporary Bookkeeper

Location: Colchester Area (Office Based)

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 FTE (depending on experience)

Contract: Temporary (4-6 Weeks)

Hours: 27 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 2:30pm

Hays are recruiting for a temporary Part-Time Bookkeeper on behalf of a well-established business based in the Colchester area. This is an office-based role offering 27 hours per week for an initial period of 4-6 weeks, with an immediate start preferred.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide support across a range of bookkeeping and finance tasks, with a particular focus on CIS billings and general accounts administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing CIS billings and related documentation
  • Managing purchase and sales ledger activities
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Processing supplier invoices and payments
  • Credit control and monitoring outstanding accounts
  • Assisting with month-end finance tasks
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Providing ad hoc support to the Finance Manager as required

Person Specification

  • Previous bookkeeping experience is essential
  • Experience with CIS invoicing/billing is highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
